What the paper looks like
LeseverstehenTeil 1
Welche Überschrift passt zu welchem Text? Schreiben Sie den Buchstaben in das Kästchen.

This is Teil 1, just like on exam day. For each text, you write the letter of its title in the box.
The method
-
1Read the text first
-
2Summarize the text in your own words
-
3Find the title that matches your summary
Let's do Text 1 together
1Read the text
Text 1
Die Stadtbücherei ist ab Montag länger geöffnet. Man kann jetzt auch abends bis 20 Uhr Bücher ausleihen.
The news is in two places: länger geöffnet and abends bis 20 Uhr.
2Summarize the text in your own words
The library is open longer in the evening.
3Find the title that matches your summary
- a Neue Bücher für die Stadtbücherei✕
- b Hier repariert jeder sein Rad selbst✕
- c Die Bücherei ist abends länger offen✓
Only title ‘c’ matches your summary, so you write ‘c’ in box 1.

A title can share a word with the text and still be wrong. Check what the title means before you look at its words.
Your turn: a new text
A new text
Der Laternenumzug der Grundschule fällt am Freitag wegen des Regens aus. Er wird auf nächste Woche verschoben.
Which title fits this text?
Not quite. Read the text again. What happens to the walk on Friday?
The answer is ‘a’. A Laternenumzug
is a lantern walk. It is off because of the rain and moves to next week, just like title ‘a’ says. Title ‘c’ also has the word Laternenumzug
, but bei jedem Wetter
means ‘in all weather’. That is the opposite of the text.
The answer and the explanation are shown above.
The titles that are left over
Half of the titles are never used. Some, like ‘a’, share a word with a text but mean something else. Match what each text is about, and leave the rest.
Questions
How long is telc B1 Leseverstehen?
Leseverstehen and Sprachbausteine share one 90-minute block, so you plan your own time across all the reading.
What if two titles seem to fit?
Pick the one that matches what the whole text is about. A title that only shares one word with the text is usually not it.
Practise Lesen Teil 1 in the app, then try the timed part with all five texts.
