MÜNDLICHER AUSDRUCK

Teil 1

Sie lernen Ihre Partnerin oder Ihren Partner kennen. Stellen Sie sich vor und stellen Sie Fragen zu diesen Themen.

This is Sprechen Teil 1, just like on exam day. You get to know your partner. The paper gives four topics, and for each topic you ask a question and you answer one.

The method

  1. 1Ask your partner questions

  2. 2Answer your partner's questions

  3. 3Keep the talk friendly

Let's do topic 1 together

1Ask your partner questions

THEMEN

1 Name und Herkunft

Topic 1 is „Name und Herkunft“, which means ‘name and home country’. To ask about the home country, you say „Woher kommst du?“, which means ‘where are you from?’.

2Answer your partner's questions

Hallo Jan, ich heiße Sara. Ich komme aus Italien.

Your partner asks you a question back. You answer with a whole sentence: „Ich komme aus Italien“ means ‘I come from Italy’. A whole sentence gives your partner something to talk about.

3Keep the talk friendly

Schön, dich kennenzulernen!

You start the talk with a warm line. „Schön, dich kennenzulernen!“ means ‘nice to meet you!’, and it makes the talk friendly from the first second.

Before you speak, look at the four topics once more. Think of one question and one answer for each topic.

Your turn: the question for topic 2

THEMEN

2 Wohnort

Topic 2 is „Wohnort“, which means ‘place where you live’. Which question asks where your partner lives?

Not quite. Topic 2 is about the place where your partner lives now. Which question asks that?

The answer is ‘a’. „Wo wohnst du?“ means ‘where do you live?’, so it asks for the place where your partner lives now. „Woher kommst du?“ means ‘where are you from?’, and that is a question for topic 1. „Was bist du von Beruf?“ means ‘what is your job?’, and that is a question for topic 3.

The answer and the explanation are shown above.

Two traps in the talk

Two traps can spoil your talk. Listen for both while you speak.

  1. A talk with only answers

Say your partner asks „Wie heißt du?“ and „Woher kommst du?“, and you only answer „Sara.“ and „Aus Italien.“. Then you never ask anything, and your partner does all the work. A good talk goes both ways, so always ask one question back.

  2. A one-word answer

Say your partner asks about your free time and you answer „Tanzen.“, which means ‘dancing.’ The talk stops. „Ich tanze gern und gehe oft spazieren“ means ‘I like to dance and often go for walks’, and it gives your partner more to answer.
